The Best Plumber Understands

The Science Of Plumbing

Plumbing is the science of moving water around the house/dwelling. There are many different types of plumbing systems, including gravity-fed pipes, pressure-fed pipes, and closed loop systems. In order to understand how these work, we need to first look at what makes up a pipe. A pipe is basically just a tube that carries liquid. Pipes can carry liquids in two ways: under pressure (like a water line) or without pressure (like a drain). When a pipe is carrying liquid under pressure, it's called a pressurized system. When a pipe is carrying fluid without pressure, it's called an unpressurized system.

Water supply

Water supply is the name given to the network of pipes that bring water into your home. These pipes are connected together in a way that allows them to deliver water to any room in your home. If you have ever turned off the tap while brushing your teeth, then you know that water doesn't always flow smoothly. That's because the pipes aren't always connected properly. To fix this problem, plumbers use special tools to test the pipes for leaks and pressure as well as removing the causes of pipe degradation such as water hammering.

Drainage

Drainage is the name given to pipes that take away wastewater from your home. Like water supply pipes, drainage pipes are connected together in order to get the wastewater where it needs to go. You may think that wastewater goes down the toilet, but that's not true. Most toilets don't even connect directly to the sewer system. Instead, they connect to a trapway. A trapway is a series of pipes that divert wastewater away from the toilet and into the sewer system.

Sewer system

The sewer system is the name given to all the pipes that carry wastewater out of your home. Wastewater flows through the sewer system until it reaches a treatment plant. At the treatment plant, wastewater is treated before being released back into the environment.

Water heater

A water heater is a device that heats water. It does this by using electricity to burn fuel. The fuel could be natural gas, propane, oil, or coal. Once the fuel burns, it creates hot gases. These gases pass through metal coils inside the water heater. As the gases travel through the coils, they heat up the water inside the tank.

Hot water heater

A hot water heater is a type of water heater that uses electricity to heat water. Unlike a standard water heater, a hot water heater heats the water faster than a standard water heater. This means that you can wash dishes, brush your teeth, and do laundry quicker.

Cold water heater

Cold water heaters are similar to regular water heaters except that they heat cold water instead of warm water. This is useful if you want to keep your refrigerator running longer.
